ABC Poem
This is a fun poem that you can write about any topic. Each line begins with a different letter of the alphabet. Choose your own topic and get started. Here is my example about Measurement.
Measurement
Area is length times width,
But don't forget perimeter is the measurement around an object.
Clocks measure time.
Drink your milk from a gallon container.
Eat 16 ounces of strawberries and that equals a pound.
Fahrenheit is the way to measure degrees in the U.S.
Grams are the weight of two large paperclips.
Have two cups? That equals a pint.
In a foot are twelve inches.
Just freeze water at 0 degrees clecius or 32 degrees Fahrenheit.
Kilometers measure length that you drive in a car.
Length can also be measured in mm, cm, dm, m, and km.
Miles are very long.
No ruler, estimate with body measurements.
One yard equals three feet.
Pounds are customary weight measurements.
Quarts in a gallon? There are four.
Rulers measure length.
Start at zero on your ruler.
Telling time is either analog or digital
Up is increase.
Volume is the space inside an object.
Water comes in liter containers.
Xtraordinary understanding!
Yams are measure in pounds.
Zoo animals can weigh a ton!

Acrostic
When writing an Acrostic poem, think of an interesting title first. You have written several Acrostic poems using your name, so this time, try a different subject. You could use a subject from Math, like Geometry, Multiplication, or Measuring. You could use an historical figure's name like Benjamin Franklin. You could do a poem on length, time, Reading, Spring, area, perimeter, planets, garbage, book titles, characters from a book, lacrosse, University of Texas, poodles, friends, etc. The list is endless! Get started writing!!
Garbage
Gross and stinky in the can
Always dad's job
Rain or shine, the trash collector comes
Banana peels, paper towels, and soda cans
A raisin cookie or two
Grapes and dog food packages too
Everyone has so much trash to dispose of.
