Types of Sentences
We will do some skill practice this first 9 weeks on the different types of sentences. You should be able to successfully use these sentences in your own writing. The types of sentences we will study are:
Declarative - telling sentences
Mrs. Loftin likes to waterski on Lake Texoma.
Interrogative - questions
Does Mrs. Loftin like to go to the lake?
Exclamatory - You should have seen Ms. Kellum and Mrs. Loftin waterskiing together!
Interrogative - commands
Put your skiis on.

Subjects and Predicates
All complete sentences MUST
have a subject and a predicate.
REMEMBER:
A
SUBJECT is the WHO or
WHAT in the sentence. (noun)
A PREDICATE tells the ACTION of the sentence or WHAT the subject is doing. (verb)
